چکیده

Epistemologists take themselves to disagree about whether there are situations where it is rational for one believe that p and one’s evidence does not support (rational akrasia). The embedded sentence ‘one’s p’ can be interpreted in two ways, however, depending on what the semantic contribution of evidence’ taken be. ‘One’s might seen as a sheer indexical or descriptive singular term. first interpretation makes relevant kind akrasia impossible, whereas second possible. But proposition expressed by each these interpretations same. We thus have reconstruction views labeled being against possibility according which they do really contradict other.

Bertrand’s Paradox Revisited: More Lessons about that Ambiguous Word, Random

The Bertrand paradox question is: “Consider a unit-radius circle for which the length of a side of an inscribed equilateral triangle equals 3 . Determine the probability that the length of a ‘random’ chord of a unit-radius circle has length greater than 3 .” Bertrand derived three different ‘correct’ answers, the correctness depending on interpretation of the word, random. Here we employ geomet...

Reasoning about RDF statements with default rules

We propose a version of Local Closed-World Assumption that is well-suited for logic-based data and knowledge integration from disparate Web sources and for agent communication over the Web. Translating such statements into Answer Set Programming gives them an alte...
